Scorecard: | Namibia v Netherlands |
- Feiko Kloppenburg (121) now has the distinction of becoming the first Dutch batsman to record a three figure score in ODIs. Tammate Klaas-Jan van Noortwijks 64 (against England at Peshawar in 1996) was the previous highest was Holland. However van Noortwijk, later in the innings, regained the record while scoring an unbeaten 134.
- Holland became the second team to register two hundreds in the same match against Namibia, after India had two against the latter at Pietermaritzburg on February 23.
- The 228 run partnership between Kloppenburg and van Noortwijk was third highest for the second wicket in the World Cup after the 318 run-partnership between Indias Saurav Ganguly and Rahul Dravid (v Sri Lanka in 1999) and the 244 run-partnership between Sachin Tendulkar and Rahul Dravid (v Namibia in 2003).
- The above partnership was Holland;s only second century partnership in ODIs. Van Noortwijk and Bas Zuiderent had put on 114 for the fifth wicket against England at Peshawar on February 22.
- For the record, Hollands previous best for the second wicket was the 74 runs between Flavian Aponso and Peter Cantrell against UAE at Lahore in 1996.
- Van Noortwijks unbeaten 134, has taken his run aggregate to 322 (avg. 46.00) in 9 matches, which makes the highest run-getter for Holland in ODIs. He went past the tally of 243 runs of teammate Tim de Leede.
- Hollands 314-4 was the second highest score by any non-Test playing nation in ODIs. Kenyas 347-3 against Bangladesh at Nairobi Gymkhana in 1997 remains the highest. However, Hollands total was the highest by an associate member in the World Cup. Zimbabwe had made 312-4 (in 50 overs) against Sri Lanka at New Plymouth in the 1992 World Cup.
- This total was Hollands highest in ODIs eclipsing the previous best of 230-6 against England at Peshawar in 1996.
- The partnership of 76 runs between Andries Burger and Morne Karg was Namibias best for the first wicket in ODIs. The pair betters the previous best stand of 19 runs between Andries Burger and Stephan Swanepoel against India at Pietermaritzburg on February 23.
- Feiko Kloppenburg (121 and 4-42) became the only sixth player in ODI history to do the all-rounders double of scoring a hundred and taking four or more wickets in the same match. West Indian Viv Richards (119 and 5-51 v New Zealand at Dunedin in 1987) is the only one to score a hundred and capture five wickets in the same match. However Kloppenburg became the first all-rounder to score a hundred and take four wickets in the World Cup. Sri Lankan Aravinda de Silva (107 not out, 3-42 v Australia at Lahore in 1996) previously had the best all-round performance in a World Cup match.
- Snyman registered his third duck in four innings. Interestingly all his three ducks have been first ball ducks.
