• Hitesh Modi was playing his 50th match. He became 269th player overall and the sixth Kenyan to appear in 50 or more ODI matches.
• Sachin Tendukar (83) scored his sixth fifty in this World Cup. He has now equalled the ODI record of most fifties in a competition. Australia’s Kepler Wessels (in 1983-84) and Mark Waugh (in 1998-99) had scored six fifties each in World Series Cup tournament.
• This was Tendulkar’s seventh 50 plus score (including the hundred that he made against Namibia) in this World Cup. He now holds the world record of most fifty plus scores in a competition. The previous record was of six fifty plus scores held by five batsmen.
• Tendulkar has now aggregated 647 runs in 10 matches against Kenya which takes him past Zimbabwean Andy Flower's tally of 608 runs to make him the highest run-scorer against Kenya.
• Tendulkar has now aggregated 669 runs in 10 matches in this World Cup. He became only the third batsman in ODI history to aggregate over 600 runs in a tournament. Australian Greg Chappell (686 run in 14 matches in the 1980-81 B&H World Series Cup and West Indian Viv Richards (651 runs in 13 matches in the 1984-85 B&H World Series Cup) are the other two to do so.
• Ganguly (111*) scored 22nd hundred of his career in his 228th match and his third in this World Cup. He joins Australian Mark Waugh, who also had three hundreds in the 1996 World Cup.
• Ganguly reached his hundred with a six (off Martin Suji). This was the second occasion that Ganguly was reaching the three figure mark with a six. The other being against England at Colombo RPS in 2002.
• This was Ganguly’s fourth hundreds in the World Cup which equals the record tally of Australian Mark Waugh and teammate Tendulkar.
• This was Ganguly's 11th hundred in 99 matches as captain, the most by any captain in ODI history. He went ahead of Sri Lankan Sanath Jayasuriya, who has 10 hundreds in 115 matches as captain.
• By scoring his third hundred as captain in the World Cup, Ganguly betters the World record of most hundreds by a captain, which was held by New Zealand's Glenn Turner.
• This was Ganguly's fifth hundred on South African soil -- the most by any visiting batsman -- Tendulkar has four. Ganguly also equals the tally of five hundreds held by Gary Kirsten -- the most hundreds by any batsman in South Africa.
• Ganguly now has 14 sixes in this tournament -- the most by any batsman. Canadian John Davison had hit 12 sixes. Ganguly's 14 sixes was also the maximum hit by any batsman in a single World Cup tournament. Kiwi left-hander Mark Greatbatch had hit 13 in the 1992 edition. For the record, Ganguly had also hit 12 in the 1999 World Cup. This means he has in total hit 26 sixes in the World Cup.
• Yuvraj Singh now has an aggregate of 1505 runs in 69 matches. He becomes the only second batsman in ODIs to reach this aggregate without appearing in a Test match. Kenyan Steve Tikolo, who has 1654 runs (in 60 matches), is the only other non-Test batsman with more ODI runs than Yuvraj.
• The partnership of 57 runs between Steve Tikolo and Collins Obuya was Kenya's best against India for the eighth wicket bettering the previous highest of 23 runs between Collins Obuya and Tony Suji at Bloemfontein in 2001.
• The above partnership was also the best for Kenya for the eighth wicket in the World Cup, obliterating the previous highest of 31 runs between Mohammad Sheikh and Aasif Karim against South Africa at Amsterdam in 1999.
• This was India’s eighth consecutive one-day international victory (since 19-02-2003). This equals their best-ever run, by the team that won the Benson and Hedges World Championship of Cricket in 1985.
• This was also India's eighth successive victory in the World Cup. Only Australia (11 wins from 20-6-1999 to 18-3-2003) and West Indies (9 wins from 7-6-1975 to 23-6-1979) have more World Cup wins in a row than India.
• Zaheer Khan, with the wicket of Martin Suji, equalled Roger Binny’s record of maximum wickets in a single World Cup tournament for India. Binny had taken 18 wickets in the 1983 edition.
• Dravid, by conceding 16 byes in Kenya’s innings, achieved the dubious distinction of conceding most byes in a World Cup match. No other ‘keeper has conceded even 10 runs. The previous record was jointly held by India’s Farokh Engineer (v NZ, Manchester,1975) and Pakistan’s Rashid Latif (v SA,Karachi,1996) had conceded 8 runs.
• The 16 byes are the most by an Indian ‘keeper in all matches. The previous record was also held by Dravid himself. He had conceded 11 byes against Kenya at Paarl in 2001-02.
• Dravid now joins West Indies’ Jeff Dujon and Pakistan’s Moin Khan to have conceded 10 or more byes on two occasions. However the ODI record is held by Australia’s Rod Marsh and Pakistan’s Salim Yousuf with three such instances.
• Dravid has now conceded exactly 100 runs in 56 matches in which he has kept wickets for India. He became second Indian after Nayan Mongia (135 byes in 139 matches) and 15th ‘keeper overall to do so. Incidentally West Indian Jeff Dujon with 378 byes in 167 matches holds the world record of conceding most byes in a career.
• The Man of the Match award was 28th for Ganguly in ODIs. He has now equalled the tally of West Indian Brian Lara . Only India’s Sachin Tendulkar (48), Sri Lanka’s Sanath Jayasuriya (36), West Indian Viv Richards (31) and Sri Lanka’s Aravinda de Silva (29) have now won more awards than Tendulkar.
