  • This was the 1658th Test match in cricket history.
  • This was the sixth Test match between these two sides. Pakistan have won all six.
  • Salman Butt, Farhan Adil and Yasir Ali were making their Test debut. Pakistan have now capped 179 players in Test cricket.
  • Pakistan’s first innings total of 175 was the lowest by any side against Bangladesh. The previous lowest was also achieved by Pakistan as they were dismissed for 295 in the first innings of second Test at Peshawar.
  • Mohammad Rafique’s first innings figures of five for 36 were the best for Bangladesh against Pakistan. Rafique himself had ended with the figures of five for 118 in the second Test of this series at Peshawar.
  • Pakistan’s one wicket win provided the tenth such instance in Test annals. The details :

  • This was the second occasion Pakistan were winning a Test by one wicket. The first was against Australia at Karachi in 1994-95. On that occasion too, Inzamam-ul-Haq was involved in tenth wicket match winning partnership !
  • Inzamam-ul-Haq (138*) scored 18th hundred of his career. Only six of them have been scored on home soil.
  • Inzamam has played a significant part in Pakistan’s Test wins since making his Test debut. He has aggregated 6440 runs in 88 matches at an average of 49.54.But in ‘won’ matches, his performance is truly remarkable.Inzamam has scored 3561 runs in 38 ‘won’ matches with 13 hundreds at a whopping average of 74.19 !
  • Khaled Mahmud’s match figures of seven for 105 were the best match figures by a Bangladeshi bowler. Mohammad Rafique also returned with figures of seven for 116 in this match. Prior to this,four bowlers had six wicket match hauls apiece for Bangladesh.

    Bangladesh’s overall Test record : played 24,won 23, drawn one.
