DURY, Theodore Seton.
Amateur.
Born at Ripley, Yorkshire, 12th June 1854.
Died at Earl’s Court, London, 20th March 1932.
He was the son of J.Dury, of The Moss, Ripley, Yorkshire, a land agent. He was educated at Harrow School, where he was a member of the cricket eleven in 1870. He went up to St. John’s College, Oxford, and appeared for the University at cricket in 1875 and 1876, gaining his blue in 1876. He also represented his University at rackets. He played in three first-class matches for Yorkshire in 1878-81. He gained his B.A. in 1877 and became a solicitor. He was Assistant Secretary to the Duchy of Cornwall 1887-98; Assistant Registrar Land Registry Department 1890-1906 and Master of the Supreme Court in 1906.
In the 1881 Census he was lodging at 14 Milner Street, Chelsea, London, the home of the Rev. James B. Allnutt aged 66, and his wife Mary A. aged 61. The Allnutt’s 25 year old unmarried daughter is also present. Theodore S. Dury is aged 25 and a solicitor.
