- The four sixes in this match has taken Andrew Flintoff’s career aggregate of sixes to 48- maximum for England. Flintoff overtook Ian Botham who had a tally of 44 sixes. Incidentally Flintoff has played only 58 innings compared to Botham’s 106. Sri Lanka’s Sanath Jayasuriya holds the record of hitting most sixes in ODIs with 182.
- Flintoff won his third consecutive Man-of-the-Match award. He became ninth player to win three consecutive MoM awards. The others are : India’s Mohinder Amarnath (in 1983), England’s Graham Gooch (1987), Australia’s Dean Jones (1990), Pakistan’s Waqar Younis (in 1990), Sri Lanka’s Aravinda de Silva (in 1996 & in 1997), South Africa’s Gary Kirsten (in 1996),India’s Sourav Ganguly (in 1997) and Lance Klusener (in 1999).
- Flintoff has now won five Man-of-the-Match awards in last six matches. India’s Sourav Ganguly had won five awards in seven matches in 1997.
- Bangladesh have not won any match in their last 47 matches. Their last win was against Pakistan at Northampton on 31-05-1999
