Billy Slade was on Glamorgan`s staff in the 1960`s during which time he showed himself to be a capable middle-order batsman, a useful occasional seam bowler and a fine fielder, especially close to the wicket.

Slade had first played for Glamorgan`s 2nd XI in 1959 when only 17 years old, and two years later he made his first-class debut against Hampshire at Swansea. Despite his all-round abilities, he failed to secure a regular place in the team, and left the county`s staff at the end of the 1967 season.
Slade subsequently coached at Marlborough School, before captaining Wales in the I.C.C. Trophy in 1979.
