ROLLER, William Eyton.
Amateur.
Born at Clapham Common, London, 1st February 1858.
Died at Bayswater, London, 27th August 1949.
The son of Frederick William Roller, of the Grange, Clapham Common, Surrey, he was educated at Westminster School, where he was a member of the cricket eleven in 1873, and went up to Caius College, Cambridge. He did not play first-class cricket for the University but he made his debut for Surrey in 1881. This was the first of 120 first-class matches, 102 of them for Surrey, between then and 1890. He toured America in 1885 and 1896. He was a fine golfer and in 1889 was elected captain of the Biarritz Golf Club.
No trace of him could be found in the 1881 Census.
