Bangladesh put up a pathetic performance in the first one-dayer after their limping T20 International loss. New Zealand cruised to an imposing 339 in their 50 overs while Bangladesh in reply scored just 190 in 43.5 overs

Shakib al Hasan called incorrectly and Vettori had no hesitation in electing to bat first. The Bangladeshi bowlers after a mind-numbing hammering from the New Zealand openers in T20 International bowled well initially. The seamers got in a couple of maidens early and even managed to remove McCullum (0, 9 balls) as early as in fourth over. Guptill (2, 8 balls) soon followed as the Kiwis were reduced to 19 for 2 in 6.3 overs. Soon debutant Ingram (69, 74 balls, 9x4) was joined at the crease by Ross Taylor (51, 52 balls, 4x4, 2x6) and the two added 98 in 15.3 overs for the third wicket to put the innings back on track. The Bangladeshi bowlers struck again as they reduced the hosts to 187 for 6 in 36 overs before Broom and Oram took the matters into their own hands.
Broom posted his first ODI half-century while Oram used the long handle to good effect to batter the Bangladeshi bowlers into submission. The pair added 123 in 11.1 overs to push the score past 300 run mark before being dismissed. Broom scored 71 in 73 balls with seven hits to the fence while Oram was more violent as he scored 83 in 40 balls with eights hits to the fence and five hits over the ropes. New Zealand at the end of th fifty over mark scored 336 for the loss of 9 wickets.
Bangladesh in reply got off to a steady start thanks to Imrul Kayes (33, 29 balls, 4x4, 2x6) and Tamim Iqbal (62, 69 balls, 10x4) put on 71 in 10.4 overs raising visions of an improbable win. But once Kayes was dismissed by new-comer McKay the visitors simply lost the plot. The middle-order caved in pathetically to some accurate bowling from the Kiwis as the nine wickets fell for just 119 runs.LATEST SCORES
