India's retired police officer to officiate in three Tests between Sri Lanka and Australia

Mumbai, July 25 : Bir Singh Yadav, India's retired police officer and ICC's Anti-Corruption Manager will supervise the three Tests between Sri Lanka and Australia commencing in Pallekele on Tuesday, it is learnt here.

 

According to the sources in the ICC, Yadav, who replaced Pakistan's Hassan Raza, reached Kandy on Sunday night.

 

Bir Singh Yadav will return to India after the three Tests and the five ODIs' and two T20's will be supervised by some other official /s.

 

"Hassan Raza and Ronald Hope resigned / retired and had been last replaced by India's Bir Singh Yadav and England's Rick Reynolds", the source added.

 

"Pakistan's Raza completed five years of deputation and as there is no cricket happening in Pakistan, Bir Singh Yadav, who retired after serving about 20 years in Delhi police had been hired by the ICC", the source added.

 

The ICC's Anti-Corruption Unit have two more people (Dharamveer Singh Yadav and Niranjan Virk) from India.

 

"There will be five more people (in civil dress" at the Stadium to ensure no betting or "live commentary" by the spectators during the matches", the source further added.

 

"In the past 2-3 people were hired at every venue. This time five men will mingle with the people at the ground (different stands) and try to evacuate the bookies and gamblers".

 

"Sri Lanka Cricket (SLC) have put several hoardings and waning boards at the appropriate places and the security at the team hotel", the source further added.

 

Both teams and match officials are put up at Kandy's Early Regency.
