--> G Louch made his debut in first-class matches
--> T White (2) passed his previous highest score of 44 in first-class matches
--> R Francis (2) passed his previous highest score of 30 in first-class matches
--> Duke of Dorset achieved his best innings bowling analysis in first-class matches in the Surrey first innings
--> J Wood achieved his best innings bowling analysis in first-class matches in the Kent first innings (previous best was 2-?)
--> R Miller achieved his best innings bowling analysis in first-class matches in the Surrey second innings (previous best was 1-?)

At the close of day 2, Stone and Yalden were the men out. SB prints a poem about this match indicating that Surrey won the toss and also informing us that play was interrupted by bad weather, that Lewis played despite illness, and that Wood of Kent suffered some unspecified, but apparently serious, foot injury. The poem also confirms that W Bartholomew (as given) is correct, note the line 'I a vicar's son' (William was the son of the Rev Charles Bartholomew of Chertsey). The teams are listed by social status; the batting order is not known, except that Hussey was last man in Kent (1).
