Match notes
New South Wales made a quite handy start of 45 before Govan removed the left handed Griffin. From that point Wyeth bowled very tightly and caused the batsmen much difficulty. Allan Mossop left in the first over of the Queensland innings but his brother Ken then played a splendid innings, leaving right on stumps after having dominated a second wicket partnership of 147 with Boag. Boag left immediately on resumption on the second day and seven were out before Tallon, batting in fine style, and Wyeth settled in to take Queensland to the lead.
New South Wales had 69 runs up before a wicket fell in their second innings but from that point O'Connor and Govan took control. O'Connor developed good pace while Govan kept the batsmen guessing with his leg breaks and googlies, each finishing with five wickets. Queensland soon achieved victory on the third morning with Boag again playing well. The left arm medium bowler Toshack of Cowra again bowled well to finish the game with three wickets in each innings. RC Raymond withdrew from the Queensland Colts team after selection being unable to obtain leave from his work place, the Queensland National Bank. He was replaced by GW Hardcastle.
