Notes
--> Melbourne & Richmond XI full substitute: W Plummer for J Pickersgill (start of day 2)

'It was intended to have played an M.C.C. eleven, but the club players did not come up to the scratch, and at the last moment it was decided to play an All Comers' team.' Bell's Life in Victoria, 9.2.1867.
'It was proposed, on the occasion of the last appearance of the black cricketers in Victoria prior to their departure from the colony, to play them against an eleven of the M. C. C. It was accordingly announced some few days since that the following gentlemen had consented to do battle for the Metropolitan Club : ??" Fraser, Serrell, Orr, Robertson, Hardcastle, James, W. Campbell, King, Kelly, Wilson, A'Becket [sic], Plummer and Ashton. When the time announced for the commencement of the game came (yesterday), however, it was found that of the thirteen players on the list, only two [Serrell and a'Beckett] put in an appearance. After some trouble, some scouring of the highways, and some searching of corners, an eleven was got together of so cosmopolitan a character, that it was at once decided to dub the team a County of Bourke one. There were first-eleven men, second-eleven men, and fifteenth eleven men, mixed up in admirable confusion.' Melbourne Age, 9,2.1867.
Greaves, by previous arrangement, was not allowed to bowl.
