The first wicket partnership of 202 was only 14 fewer than the 216 put on by HH Secretan and JR Hartland in a minor match a few years before.
Tbe Wellington fielding was atrocious, many catches being dropped, the only fielder to redeem his reputation was Moorhouse, at point, who was excellent.
