The match was badly affected by rain. An abandonment was intended at 4.30pm but the Canadians were so keen to play that another new pitch was prepared, and the game continued in very difficult conditions. The Canadians were unable to make the required runs partly due to Lord Harris bowling underarm "grubs" and "sneaks" to ensure that the game was saved.
