The game was marred but two terrible accidents that occurred. Captain Stewart of the 3rd.Life Guards fractured the middle finger of his left hand trying to catch a ball and he was immediately transferred to hospital in London where it was amputated. Then Captain Taswell was hit a terrible blow between the eyes while fielding and it looked likely to prove fatal. Fortunately he recovered but was disfigured for life.
