Rain delayed the start of play, reducing the match to a 44 overs per side contest. Further rain came with Otago 98/5 after 25 overs, reducing the match to a 42 overs per side contest. Rain curtailed play on the scheduled day with Otago 107/7 after 29.4 overs.
