Though behind on first innings, Northamptonshire won this match by eight wickets at 1.45 pm on the second day. For the winners, Thompson took 11 wickets for 86 runs He was given a sovereign by his Captain and a collection on the ground realised £1-11s-6d. Simpson's 63 for the losers contained 9 fours.
