This return game was drawn, as had been the match between the two sides at St Albans in the first week of July. Hertfordshire had a first innings lead of 189 runs, but Cambridgeshire, with seven wickets down in their second innings and still 56 runs behind, were saved by rain which came down heavily at 4.00 pm on the second day and caused the match to be abandoned.
For the visitors, White's 86 contained 1 five and 5 fours and Pigg's 56 not out 3 fours. When dismissing Anstead in the Cambridgeshire first innings, White took his one hundredth wicket in Championship matches.
