This return match was drawn with the point for first innings lead going to Northamptonshire. The game at Northampton in June had been won by Northamptonshire. The visitors enforced the follow-on, but Hertfordshire were able to declare 200 runs ahead with 45 minutes play left. For Northamptonshire, Thompson took 11 wickets in the match for 169 runs. There were 7 fours in Horton's 82 and 1 six and 5 fours in Thompson's 78. In the visitors' first innings, these two players put on 150 runs for the fourth wicket, which was the second highest partnership for that wicket during the season.
