Wiltshire won by six wickets before lunch on the second day. The home side had required 119 runs to win with over five hours to play. For the winners, Smith's 55 included 11 fours and Smart took 7 wickets in the Hertfordshire first innings for 40 runs. For Hertfordshire, Butcher played the highest inning with 36. In the Hertfordshire first innings, Marsh and Harford put on 52 runs for the seventh wicket. When dismissing Marsh in the Hertfordshire first innings, Smart reached the career milestone of three hundred wickets in championship matches.
