Yorkshire 2nd XI won this return match by 28 runs at 6.00 pm on the second day. Such a victory had appeared unlikely when with seven second innings wickets down, Yorkshire had led by only 40 runs. The match between the two teams at Ripon in June had been won by Lincolnshire. For the winners, Leyland took 10 wickets for 86 runs. There were 6 fours in Grimshaw's 84, 3 fours in Booth's 57 and 4 fours in Wilson's 56. In the visitors' first innings, Grimshaw and Booth put on 52 for the seventh wicket. In the Yorkshire 2nd XI second innings, the last 3 wickets added 133 runs compared with 30 by the first seven. Wilson and Booth added 80 runs for the eighth wicket and Booth and Leyland 52 for the ninth. For Lincolnshire, there were 3 fours in Hibbert's 56.
