Norfolk won by an innings and 154 runs at 5.05 pm on the second day, after Cambridgeshire followed on 274 runs behind on first innings. On the first day rain stopped play at 1.05 pm and the match did not resume until 5.00 pm. Norfolk lost just 2 wickets, a new record for a team winning a match in the Championship. Cambridgeshire were dismissed twice on the second day. For the winners, there were 31 fours, 3 threes and 6 twos in Stevens's 170 not out, scored in 2 hours and 25 minutes. Dunning's 99 cotained 13 fours, Barratt's 66 not out 8 fours, and Dunell's 58 9 fours. In the Norfolk innings there were three century partnerships, with Dunning and Dunell putting on 110 runs for the first wicket, Dunning and Stevens 132 for the second, and Stevens and Barratt 158 unbroken for the third. In the match, Smith took 12 wickets for 100 runs. Stibbon had a 'king pair' for Cambridgeshire, being dismissed first ball in both innings. Pilch kept wicket for Norfolk in the visitors second innings.
