This match will always be remembered as Frankie Forrester's match. The South were re-inforced by the presence of former Devon bowler Martyn Goulding who returned impressive match figures of 74-25-132-11 but Forrester made 59 and 88 including 19 x 4's and 2 x 6's. South who dismissed the North for 150 and gained a first innings lead thanks to Tony Ferguson who made a second successive century his 101 including 13 x 4's and a six, Alan Morris taking five wickets for 66 runs. With a deficit of 134 the North played up well in their second innings Brian Ward making 77 with 10 x 4's and Forrester 88 with 11 x 4's and a six. Goulding took seven wickets for 99 runs. Set 129 to get in twenty overs the chase was never on and the South played for a draw losing six wickets for 83 before bad light brought play to an end.. A fine performance from the North who won their first match since 1972.
