Brief profile of Jim Pleass
by Dr.A.K.Hignell

Player:JE Pleass

Jim Pleass was a talented right-handed batsman who after success for the Welsh Schools side and the Cardiff club, joined Glamorgan`s professional staff in 1948.

Pleass had previously played for the county as an amateur in 1947, and he subsequently developed into an aggressive middle-order batsman and a fine cover fielder. However, he only scored one century during his career – that came against Yorkshire at Harrogate in 1955 as Glamorgan secured their first ever Championship win on Yorkshire soil.

Pleass left the county`s staff in 1956 and went into business in Cardiff. He has served on the county`s committee and is currently secretary of the Glamorgan Former Players Association.
