Sussex overcame their rivals Surrey by 21 runs. Sussex won the toss and had no hesitation in electing to bat first on a benign pitch. Nash opened the innings for Sussex and what Surrey and the spectators witnessed was brutal hitting from the opener. Nash hammered a pulverising 40 of 16 ball which consisted five hits to the fence and two maximums. Luke Wright then continued to keep the run-rate afloat with a 46 ball 58 as Sussex set a target of 185.

Surrey lost their opener Usman Afzaal, for 2, and Mark Ramprakash, who raced along to 23 from 13 balls before being bowled by Michael Yardy. Scott Newman clubbed his way to 38 from 29 balls before becoming Yardy's second victim, and Yardy added a third when Matt Spriegel was also bowled for 3. Stewart Walters resisted bravely, but when he fell for 34 from 20 balls, Surrey's last chance went with him.
