There was good news on the injury front for the Pakistan squad, as fast bowling spearhead Umar Gul stated to *PakPassion.net* that he was confident that he will be fit for the forthcoming Twenty/20 World Cup finals in the Caribbean.

"I resume bowling tomorrow at the camp in Lahore and although I will be taking it easy at first. I expect to be bowling at full speed in three or four days time. I am confident that I will get the all clear from the doctors and that I will be fit for the World Cup" stated Gul.

25 year old Gul is widely regarded as a Twenty/20 specialist and is currently the leading wicket-taker in international Twenty20 cricket with 43 scalps from 26 matches at an astonishing average of only 12.81 and an economy rate of less than a run a ball. Without Gul in the starting lineup, Pakistan's bowling riches would certainly have been depleted and Gul's availablilty for the World Cup will be a timely boost to a squad that has picked up it's fair share of injuries during the ongoing training camp at the National Academy in Lahore.

Gul confirmed to PakPassion.net that the shoulder injury that he has been suffering from occurred during fielding drills. "I dived for the ball and landed awkwardly and jarred my shoulder. It was one of those things that can happen at the blink of an eye. It's been painful and sore, but I'm thankful that the injury has improved greatly".

Gul who represented the Kolkata Knight Riders in the inaugural Indian Premier League felt that the training camp under the supervision of Waqar Younis and Ijaz Ahmed was definitely serving it's purpose. "There has been a great spirit amongst all of the boys, everyone has been working really hard during the practice sessions and the effort from all of the boys has been really encouraging".

Gul who will celebrate his 26th birthday in two days time feels that Pakistan have a very good chance of defending their Twenty/20 World Champions crown. "I think we are good enough to at least reach the semi finals, and once you reach the semi finals anything is possible. We have a tough group and there will be no easy games, but if we are on top of our game, we can present a challenge to any of the teams".
