India win the fifth ODI by 5 wickets to keep the winning momentum going in this seven match ODI series. Sehwag came up with a blisterring knock of 91 to make sure that India chased down 271 in the 44th over. Earlier in the day England riding on Kevin Pietersen's hundred made 270 for 4 after being put in.
Sehwag was in amazing form today. He along with Sachin put a century opening stand in just 15 overs and took the sting out of the England attack. Harmison, Broad and Flintoff were carted all over the park and India took the sting out of the total. Sachin was a great foil to Sehwag. With Gambhir being rested and Rohit Sharma back in the team, it was upto Sachin to support Sehwag. And he after a slow start almost caught up with Sehwag, before Sehwag with 21 in an over from Swann blazed away. Sachin went on to complete his half century before going for a lofted short was cleaned up by Harmison.
Yuvraj came and went and when Sehwag was out unluckily given out leg before just nine short of his hundred, India was in a spot of bother. But Captain cool Dhoni along with Raina made sure that there were no more hiccups. Both kept cool heads got to their fifties and made sure that India kept that winning momentum going.
Earlier in the day Kevin Pietersen became the first England captain to score a hundred abroad. It was his seventh ODI hundred and made sure that England went on to get a fighting score of 270 for 4. He along with Owais Shah batted aggressively to make sure that England survive the early setbacks when England were 158 for 4 at one stage. Irfan came into the team in place of Munaf but could not make much of an impact but the spinners Yuvraj and Harbhajan made sure that England did not get 300. The dew later in the night also made sure that England would have problems defending in the target.
