The suspension on Bangladesh left-arm spinner Abdur Razzak, for a suspect bowling action, has been lifted by the International Cricket Council on Thursday. Razzak was suspended by the ICC after an independent analysis on his bowling action revealed the amount of elbow extension for both his stock delivery and fast ball exceeded the 15 degree level of tolerance.

 

The 26-year-old spinner was first reported by on-field umpires during the second Test at home against New Zealand in October and the suspension was imposed after an analysis of his action at the Australian Institute of Sport. Razzak appeared for another assessment of his action at AIS last month and has now been cleared to play international cricket.

 

"The ICC have informed the BCB that Razzak's bowling technique has changed to the extent that both his stock delivery and faster ball are now within the ICC tolerance level of 15 degrees," the BCB said in a statement. "His action is now legal. As a result, the previous suspension has been lifted and Razzak is once again permitted to bowl in international cricket."

 

Razzak will now be available for selection for the one-day series against Pakistan, which is likely to be played at the end of the month.
