Haynes kept wicket in the Australia second innings in place of the injured Murray.

West Indies retained the Sir Garfield Sobers Trophy, first played for in the 1977/78 WSC season.
This was the final match played under the auspices of the World Series Cricket organisation, a subsequent one-day fixture scheduled for Basseterre, St Kitts on April 13 being washed out.
GS Chappell with 78 points won the Man of the Series based on a points system covering all the matches with DK Lillee second with 48.
