Rain limited play on the first day to just one hour in this drawn return match, with the start delayed until 1.45 pm and ending with more rain at 2.45 pm. On the second day a commencement could not be made before 11.45 am. Northumberland had won the match between the two sides at Norwich in June. At one stage it looked as if Norfolk might have to follow-on, but Blake's innings ensured this outcome was avoided. He top-scored in the match with 46.
