This return match was drawn, after Bedfordshire followed on 189 runs behind. Bedfordshire had won the game played at Dunstable in June. The Hertfordshire score of 439 was the third highest innings of the Championship season. For Hertfordshire, there were 12 fours in Hill's 84, 7 fours in Golding's 72, and 8 fours in Coleman's 63 not out. In the Hertfordshire innings, Golding and Hill put on 137 runs for the sixth wicket, which was the highest partnership for that wicket during the season, and Highley and Coleman 67 for the eighth wicket, which was the second highest for that wicket. For the visitors, Pollitt's 77 included 1 five and 9 fours, Thring's 63 contained 7 fours, and Taylor's 60 included 5 fours. The 136 runs conceded by W F Brown in the Hertfordshire innings was the highest of the season, and the 46 overs he bowled was the joint second highest. When dismissing T A Brown in the Bedfordshire second innings, White took his two hundredth wicket in championship matches, and when Golding scored 26 in the Hertfordshire innings, he scored his one thousandth run in championship matches.
