Match drawn with Monmouthshire winning on first innings. Rain prevented play on the second day between lunch and 4.35 pm. For the home team, E S Phillips scored 162 with 18 fours, 10 threes and 11 twos in 220 minutes, Robathan scored 103 not out with 13 fours, 1 three and 8 twos, and Tatham 62 with 2 fives and 6 fours. In the Monmouthshire innings, E S Phillips and Tatham added 160 runs for the fourth wicket which was the highest partnership for that wicket during the season, Robathan and Steeples 53 for the eighth wicket, and Robathan and W A Williams 88 unbroken for the ninth wicket which was the highest partnership for that wicket during the season. For Devon, Harrison scored 65 not out with 7 fours and Brunskill 51 not out with 5 fours. A bad strain prevented Steeples bowling in the Devon second innings and Garnet Williams fielded as the Monmouthshire substitute in the Devon second innings. The Monmouthshire total of 475-8 declared was the second highest of the season. E S Phiilps's innings of 162 was the third highest of the season. The 161 runs conceded by Aston in the Monmouthshire innings were the highest of the year.
