Lincolnshire won this return match by 102 runs at 5.45 pm on the second day. The Lincolnshire declaration set Durham a victory target in their second innings of 171 runs in just over two hours. The match between the two sides at Darlington in July had been won by Durham. On the first day rain halted play between 3.25 and 5.45 pm. For the winners, there were 14 fours in Hibbert's 106, an innings of 2¼ hours. In the Lincolnshire second innings, Hibbert and Ward added 101 runs for the fourth wicket. Broughton took 10 wickets in the match for 72 runs. A collection for Hibbert on the second day yielded £2-10s-7d.
