Surrey 2nd XI won this match by 130 runs shortly after 5.00 pm on the second day. For the winners Rutty made 62, scored in just 40 minutes, and Harrison 53. In the Dorset second innings Spring took five wickets for 30 runs. For Dorset Arundell top scored with 46. The match had been set aside for Stacey's benefit but the attendance was poor and the receipts low. As a consequence it was reported that the benefit fund would be kept open to the end of the season so it could be supplemented by further donations.
