Surrey 2nd XI won this match by 62 runs shortly after 6.00 pm on the second day. Wiltshire had led on first innings by 24 runs on first innings and had been set a victory target of 261 runs in over four hours. Only one over had been bowled after lunch on the second day, when a heavy shower halted play which did not commence again until after 4 pm. For the winners, there were 4 sixes, 17 fours in Spring's 116, scored in little over an hour. Mason's 72 included 1 six and 5 fours. In the Surrey first innings, Mason and Blacklidge added 70 runs for the seventh wicket and Mason and Rutty 65 runs for the eighth, whilst in the second innings Spring and Rutty put on 75 runs for the eight wicket. Spring took nine wickets in the match for 118 runs. For the losers, there were 10 fours, 4 threes and 13 twos in Matthews's 100, an innings of 1¾ hours. The match was for Overton's benefit.
