MacKINNON, Francis Alexander.
Amateur.
Born at Paddington, London, 9th April 1848.
Died at Drumduan, Forres, Morayshire, Scotland, 27th February 1947.
The son of William Alexander MacKinnon, chief of the Clan MacKinnon, of Acryse Park, Kent, he was educated at Harrow, and went up to St Johns College, Cambridge. He won his cricket blue in 1870 and played in 88 first-class matches between then and 1885, 78 of them for Kent and one Test Match during the tour of Australia in 1878/79. He gained his B.A. in 1871. He was a Captain (Hon Major 1886) of the Royal Kent Yeomanry 1871-93 and 1900-02. J.P. and Deputy Lieutenant for Kent. In 1903 on the death of his father he became MacKINNON of MacKINNON the 35th chief of the Clan MacKinnon.
At the time of the 1881 Census he was living at Acrise Place, Acryse, Kent, with his father William Alexander, a widower aged 67 born in London, a Magistrate and Deputy Lieutenant, and his younger brother William Henry, unmarried aged 28, a Lieutenant-Colonel in the Foot Guards. He is unmarried, aged 32 born in London, a Magistrate. There are also two unmarried sisters Caroline Emma aged 33 and Sophia Louisa aged 31. There were fourteen domestic servants.
