Player: | A Symonds |
DateLine: 26th May 2009
Andrew Symonds is one the few characters that is left in international cricket. He hits the ball hard when he bats, can bowl handy pace and off breaks and is an excellent fielder. He is also known for creating controversies sometimes outside his team or within his team. Batting for Gloucestershire at 20, he came to fame when he smashed 16 sixes in the first innings against Glamorgan. During almost five years in and out of the one-day side he frittered away golden opportunities. One day changed everything. Striding out with his team in turmoil against Pakistan in the 2003 World Cup, a game and tournament he never expected to play in, Symonds sculpted a masterly 143 not out in 125 balls.
