New Zealand skipper Daniel Vettori said his new role as a selector will not affect his relationship with his team-mates.

The spinner was appointed to the national selection panel along with coach Andy Moles ahead of the second and final Test against Sri Lanka, which gets under way in Colombo on Wednesday morning.
The Kiwis will be looking to come back from the heavy 202-run defeat they suffered in Galle and Vettori wants the players to continue to have confidence in him.
"I hope the players see it in an objective way. As they know me, I can be an objective person. That I will judge them on their performances. The guys will hopefully have a lot of faith in me," Vettori said in a teleconference from Colombo.
"There are guys who are good friends, and one day I might have to sit them down and say that I was a part of the process that left them out.
"You have to take that responsibility on, the harsher nature of those selections. That is something I want to be prepared for if I want to have a say in the selections."
"Hopefully I will bring a level head to the job, someone who knows the players very well. While I don't get to watch as much domestic cricket as I would like to, and as much as the selectors do, I do know how the players work and I do understand when they are in form and when they are not there."
Vettori said that his most immediate focus is on levelling the series with Sri Lanka.
Though illness took its toll on the Black Caps during the Galle Test, they are likely to be at full strength on Wednesday.LATEST SCORES
