Just when the Tamil Nadu camp thought that a safe passage to the semis was assured Delhi made sure that they played the killjoy. Delhi beat Tamil Nadu on the basis of the first innings lead to set up a semifinal clash with the traditional rivals Mumbai in the Ranji Trophy.

 

A maiden first-class century by Gaurav Chhabra and contributions from Rajat Bhatia (94) and Puneet Bisht (75) helped Delhi to beat Tamil Nadu.

 

Resuming at 294 for four, needing 170 to take the lead the Delhi batsmen launched a stunning counterattack leaving the Tamil Nadu bowlers helpless. Tamil Nadu held the advantage but under the relentless attack from the Delhi batsmen the bowlers did not have any idea of how to contain the batsmen.
