Biography:Commissioned into Wiltshire Regiment, 1911; Served on Western Front during WWI and won MC (as a captain) for a daring escape from captivity; Seconded to command teh Hong Kong Volunteer Defence Corps, 1938; Promoted to Colonel, 1940; Commanded local Hong Kong defences in December 1941 and became a PoW on the surrender.
