Match notes
A fine effort from the Queensland pace attack saw the New South Wales batting collapse as they lost their only match of the series. A sound display from Breadsell held the Queensland innings together as they also lost early wickets. Scherer showed fine style as he took Queensland to a first innings lead on the first afternoon. Due to overnight rain which continued into the morning the start of play on the second day was delayed until 2.30 p.m. Further rain halted play at 2.51 p.m. and continuing rain then caused the match to be abandoned at 3.50 p.m. as Queensland gained the only match points of the first round of the series.
