The Scarborough contained ten men who had played first class cricket and this match was the first the Australians had lost in England on the tour.
J.Frank's bowling was said to be very unfair although he wasn't called by the umpires.
He was responsible for breaking Spofforth's third finger of his right hand and that player didn't play again on the tour. Bannerman was hit on the leg and stood away from the wicket and Murdoch went out and tried to get Charlwood (Captain) to take Franks off but he refused to do so.
