Notes
--> Day 1 Lunch: Leicestershire (1) 20/6
--> Day 2 Lunch: England XI (1) ?/7 (Platts 23*, Nash 9*)
--> Day 3 Lunch: England XI (2) 15/1 (Shrewsbury ?*)
In the local press the opposition were billed as 'All England'. This was not the All England Eleven, and in his Scores & Biographies Mss, Arthur Haygarth calls it 'An England Eleven'.
This was the first, and only, 'important' match played on the Belgrave Cricket and Cycle Ground, which was opened in 1880. In 1901 the ground was sold for building development.
