Because the Intercollegiate games this year were being played to the American Plan, Harvard College wished to get acquainted with this form of cricket. The American Plan was to be used in the second innings only where sets of three batsmen played alternate innings with the opponents. However in this match the whole game was played to this system and was also played bowling eight balls an over.
