At 4pm on the first day a light shower forced the players from the field for a short time and they had just resumed play 10 minutes later when heavy rain set in and play was abandoned for the day
On the second day just after the Poverty Bay second innings had ended a thunderstorm passed over with heavy rain which delayed the resumption of play by about 30 minutes with both the pitch and outfield getting drenched
Further heavy rain caused another stoppage for about 20 minutes with play resuming even though it was still drizzing until stumps were drawn at 6pm
