On the second morning light rain drifted across the ground from time to time but at midday when Wairarapa were 33 for 1 wicket bitterly cold rain driving across the field caused play to be halted for a short time
Heavy rain later interrupted play for around 20 minutes when Wairarapa were 99 for 4 wickets in their second innings
Rain again forced the players from the field at 3.20pm and the game was finally called off at 4.30pm when there was no prospect of play being able to resume
