This return match was drawn, Buckinghamshire having won the game between the two sides at Aylesbury in July. Playing to save the match, Northamptonshire's second innings of 159 was scored off 143.2 overs. Thompson batted nearly three hours for his 77, which included 6 fours. Gresson carried his bat through the Buckinghamshire innings. It was the only instance during the season.
