This card comes from the Minor Counties Research Project
In this drawn return match, Worcestershire were set 253 to win in under three hours and ended 81 short with five wickets remaining. Worcestershire had won when the two teams met at Worcester in July. For the home team, Collins's 53 included 7 fours, while Bowley's 60 for the visitors contained 11 fours. A press report suggests that the wicket had been watered shortly before the match began and gave considerable encouragement to the bowlers on the first day. This draw ended a run of six consecutive wins for Worcestershire. Nevertheless, it was this result that effectively ensured they would retain the Championship from their closest rivals Glamorgan.
