Wiltshire won this return match by 99 runs at just before 5.00 pm on the second day. The encounter in July between the two sides at Trowbridge had been drawn. The home side had around three hours to bat to save the match or score the 211 runs required for victory. For Dorset Hughes took 11 wickets in the match. In the Wiltshire second innings, Smart and Overton added 78 runs for the ninth wicket. This was the second and last of Dorset's two Championship matches of the season. No Dorset bowling analysis for either of the Wiltshire innings has been found in any of the sources listed.
[Missing: Umpires; fall of wickets; in Wiltshire 1st inns bowling analysis; in Wiltshire 2nd inns batting order, and bowling analysis; in Dorset 2nd inns batting order, and runs bowling 4 in excess - an alternative version of the score gives Ward 29 not 39, extras 16 not 6, and runs in excess 14 not 4.]
