Buckinghamshire won this return match by 110 runs at 4.50 pm on the second day, thus completing the double having won when the teams met at Aylesbury earlier in the month. For the winners Nash took 16 wickets in the match for 74 runs, which was statistically the second best match bowling performance of the season and best for the County to this day. The Buckinghamshire debutant Shaw had played for Hertfordshire in 1895. He top-scored in the match with 42. Dobson, in his one and only match for Buckinghamshire, made 3 stumpings in the Oxfordshire second innings. In doing so he equalled the feat of two of his team mates - C E Cobb, who had done it 3 times in 1896 and the current season, and C D Robinson in 1895 - as well as W H Brain who did it for Glamorgan, also in the current season.
[Missing: Fall of wickets; in Buckinghamshire 1st inns runs conceded by bowlers 1 in excess in all sources listed; in Oxfordshire 2nd inns part batting order.]
